Toyota Celica
Celica is Spanish for "heavenly" and many will agree that the latest incarnation is just that. Designed in Toyota's Calty design studio in California, this new edgy style is where it's at. Others will prefer the smoother edges of the Mark VI and earlier models. The Celica is certainly the most practical choice of Toyota's current sports range. [If I wanted Practical I'd have bought a Camry or an IS200: Andy] Only available as a hard top for now, the front wheel drive Celica may not have the ultimate sports car responses of the MR2, but it's pretty close and, wait for it..... has space for luggage - not a luxury afforded to MR2 owners.
We'll soon be bringing you more details of both the 140 (GT) and 190 (GTS) variations of this great vehicle For now, just be aware of its potential - lighter, more powerful, more aerodynamic, quieter, faster and cheaper than the model it replaces; could we ask for anything more? Directly from the front, the resemblance to the MR2 is remarkable; you could almost be forgiven for confusing them. From any other angle it's completely different - futuristic and edgy in contrast to the MR2;s sexy "Boxster like" curves. Send us pictures of your Celica and we'll publish them here, together with those of our own 190 VVTL-i when it arrives next month.
